Why Homemaking?

I really started My Homemaking Life with two purposes in mind.

  1. To help my fellow homemakers.
  2. To be financially able to stay at home with my son.

The first is that I have a passion for homemaking and a big place in my heart for homemakers.
I believe the title of homemaker far surpasses the connotation that word tends to have with people.
To make a house a home is an extremely important, typically undervalued, and, at times, a difficult role.

Everyone has a home life of some sort.
Everyone can and should work to get the best out of that home life.

Your home life can be part of your best life!
Your best you should not be limited to “vacation” you.

I have a desire to equip my fellow homemakers with helpful, encouraging, and uplifting content.
I chose “My Homemaking Life” because I wanted to help people that can relate to any and all areas of my life.

My life really does consist of things like cleaning schedules, joys of being a mother and wife, and a whole lot of faith.
The idea of sharing these parts of my life and my experiences to help others is extremely rewarding.

Why I Chose a Blog

The second purpose of My Homemaking Life is to be able to stay at home with my son.

A priority for my husband and I is that our son does not have to primarily be in another’s care.
That while he (and any other children we may have) are young I am able to be a stay-at-home mother.
This is an amazing privilege I thank God for often.

A little disclaimer- we do not believe this is the only or even the best way to raise a child. This is simply what works for our family, something we personally hold as a priority for us.

Blogging is so much more than a day to day log of your life, or anything like it once was circa 2004. (I know that is exactly what some of you were thinking ?)

The sky really is the limit when it comes to blogging.
Creation is limitless.
And you truly can hone that creativity into a thriving business!

Typically speaking, that is what blogging is.
Creating a business.

A business that can get you out of debt, like me- allows you to stay at home with your kids, and helps you create the lifestyle you have only dreamed of.

With possibilities like that, of course, I started a blog!
So, that is what I did, and it failed.

Yes, it completely and utterly failed.
But, that is not the end of our story!

If you head over to 5 Blogging Mistakes and How to Avoid Them, you will learn exactly what caused my first blog to fail.

How I Started A Blog- My Homemaking Life

So, when creating this blog I made some changes.
One of these changes was my mindset.

I began My Homemaking Life with a business mindset.
This is not something I did with my previous blog.

My first and foremost goal for My Homemaking Life will always be to create quality content to assist homemakers in all of their endeavors.
This mindset change does not affect that in any way, other than making that goal far more achievable!

So, in order to accomplish that, and in order to have the privilege of being with my son full time, I had to approach my blog with the true feeling that I was creating a business.
I had to be serious about it.

I had to take the responsibility of a business owner/CEO. #IAmTheBoss!
Do people still use hashtags this way?
I have literally no idea how to use a hashtag without making tweens everywhere cringe.

Anyway, without a success centered-mindset, you will struggle to reach success.
Do NOT be afraid to dream big.
Big things simply cannot happen to people who were too afraid to dream them up.

How to Start a Blog

So, how did I start this blog?
Well, in addition to my mindset change, I also started listening to the wisdom of a guy named Paul Scrivens, or Scrivs as he is usually known.

As I say in 5 Blogging Mistakes and How to Avoid Them, you are not in this alone.
There are many very kind, very smart individuals who have been exactly where you are now.

So you may be wondering who is this “Scrivs”, and why does he have such a weird name?
Scrivs is a fellow blogger/entrepreneur extraordinaire.
He has not one, but SIX successful blogs.
Sorry, I have no idea why he goes by Scrivs- you can totally ask him sometime.

This guy seriously knows his stuff.
He has spent years learning what works and what does not in the blogging world.
He knows exactly what it takes to create a successful website, and his goal is to help others do the same.

Why Should You Listen?

I know what you are thinking,
“Ana, I have heard this 1000 times before from 100 other bloggers. So, why Scrivs?”

Amidst the many many bloggers who all say basically the same few things,
(which for many that means saying whatever they need to to get you to listen and/or buy from them)

Scrivs is different.

He truly has a desire to help others achieve the lifestyle they want through teaching.
Scrivs doesn’t want to hoard all of his knowledge of what it takes to make a successful blog.

He wants to share it.

He has created a collection of every bit of information he has to help you achieve your goals for your blog.
This collection is called Dare to Conquer.

Dare to Conquer includes courses, lessons, boot camps, and even journey paths.
He lays it all out for you step by step!

Every bit of knowledge in Dare to Conquer is extraordinarily valuable.
I absolutely recommend starting with his FREE 12 Day Blogging Boot Camp!
It will set you up with all of the basics you need to know to start your blog!
And it’s free knowledge! Don’t pass that up!

The Best Blogging Resource

The best blogging resource I believe you can have is the community.
I know that sounds a bit cheesy, but hear me out.

Having the knowledge needed to start a blog is obviously important.
Having a community of people who know exactly what you are going through is just as important, if not more so.

When you join the Dare to Conquer you not only gain access to Scrivs’ amazing resources on DTC, but you also gain access to an invaluable community of other bloggers.

Within Dare to Conquer, you will meet so many fantastic people all working towards (have already completed) the same goals as you.
Scrivs is often surprised at how vital Dare to Conquer members consider this part to be.

Without this community and the knowledge I was able to learn from Scrivs, there is no way I would be where I am today with my blog!
Dare to Conquer has helped so many people start their own online businesses through blogging, myself included!
